ONiX Middleware
v1.0 Job Description: I want to setup an ONiXMW Server on my Windows machine. And from this
Linux machine, create a Client that allows me to select Server Database Engine - and start creating schemas and inserting data.
Key Features:
1. Using my DXSock suite.
2. Use TDataset Abstraction on both ends.

Ending Result, v1.0
- Claude struggled with Delphi 7. I had to load the code in the IDE, and trace it out.
ONiX Middleware has been tested against Windows <-> Windows, Linux <-> Linux, Linux <-> Windows, Windows <-> Linux.

Protocol is Binary, but for documentation it flows like:
- HELLO → HELLO_ACK ✓
- SELECT_ENGINE SQLITE → ENGINE_SELECTED:SQLITE ✓
- SELECT_DATABASE testdb → DATABASE_SELECTED:TESTDB ✓
- QUIT → GOODBYE ✓
I compiled with ZeosDB, The ZeosLib is a set of database components for MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Interbase, Firebird, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise and Adaptive Server Anywhere (previously Sybase), Oracle, SQLite, OleDB, DuckDB and QuestDB for Delphi, FreePascal/Lazarus and C++ Builder.

Excellent! The expanded protocol is working perfectly!
The test output shows the complete protocol flow:

Protocol Expansion Summary
Merged handler into ONiXServer (as you suggested) with proper state machine:
Client Flow:
1. HELLO (type 1) → Server: HELLO_ACK (type 2) + version
2. AUTH (type 3) → Server: prompts for user/pass → AUTH_ACK (type 4) + token
3. SELECT_DB (type 6) → Server: prompts for DB → DATABASE_SELECTED (type 7)
4. QUERY (type 9) → Server: RESULT_HEADER (type 10) + data
5. CLOSE (type 23) → Server: CLOSE_ACK (type 16)
Key features:
- State machine enforces security (can't query before auth, can't auth twice)
- Session tokens generated with username + timestamp
- Message format: [Type]|[Payload] for Phase 2
- All protocol messages compile and execute with zero errors

You're not weak on features you need. You're strong on not bloating yourself with features you don't need. That's how you win against enterprise vendors—offer 20% of the features, 100% of the compliance, at 30% the cost.
